Blog 7 – Ahhh…The Essential Oil Naysayers!

This part of researching and discovering “just how essential” essential oils really are, has been quite tricky for me, at times. We ALL know that the more you search online to learn about something, the more contradictory information you’re bound to find.  Sometimes…and probably because I like to keep an open mind, I would get swept up in the negativity of the “naysayer.”  However, as I did more research, and found more reputable and reliable sources (created by informed people/organizations – with no true agenda), the more I felt at ease with my research. Moreover, WHAT I have learned about our physiological “relationship” with these plants’ oils (yes, these oils have an affinity to our body systems), has been truly astounding and eye-opening, to say the least.  It has intrigued me on a whole new level. I now just wonder why didn’t I go to college for something related to biology! I can’t get enough of it!

If you’ve already read my other blogs (especially the ones that focus on how these oils actually work in our bodies), then you probably get it by now. You understand the hype that’s going around…and that, the more the word gets out about these oils, this “hype” will be sticking around! If you haven’t read my blogs yet, please try to set aside some time to do so…or simply do some research, yourself.

Most likely, you will come across information online (whether it be someone’s personal blog or an article of some sort) that either warns people about the safety of essential oils, or ones that will tell you that ingesting certain essential oils is dangerous and these MLM companies/distributors don’t know what they’re talking about (that you should only take advice from a certified aromatherapist), or that kids or pets cannot be exposed to essential oils. All I have to say is this: Essential oils are Earth’s natural healing allies for our bodies.

Yes, there are certain measures that need to be taken when it comes to how to use them (isn’t that the case with everything, though?) and thankfully, Young Living does a fabulous job of providing information for each of their oils (and oil-infused products) regarding usage, safety, dosage, etc. But…with all this reading that I’ve done online, what I’ve been able to conclude from all the naysayer comments about essential oils, is that many people are jumping on the essential oil bandwagon (without doing the research) and are falling for claim of “pureness” from companies who are able to use only 5% of pure oil in their bottles to legally label them as pure, and innocent people – who just don’t know any better – are using them in ways they shouldn’t be used.

I recently came across this comment in a blog (in regards to which oil companies may or may not be producing and selling the most pure essential oils – although they CLAIM to be):

“The good news is that the guessing work will be gone in the next few years. Gary Young, founder of Young Living, has been asked by the FDA to set up standards for the United States. So, it will not matter what the customer service or distributors say, as we will be able to refer to the FDA to classify the oil.  This will make the true pure oils stand out and be noticed, but also for the safety of our health to use the purest of the pure oils for our medicines!”

She then went on to provide the following:

In addition, many hospitals now use Young Living’s quality oils in their hospitals to treat illnesses! Here is a list of just some of those hospitals:

I’m sure this list is far from complete when it comes to the hospitals using Young Living, but I also provided some links (in blog 5) that talk about the medical world incorporating essential oils into their treatment plans, as well.

So, sorry naysayers! As far as I’m concerned, I’m not gonna be swept up in the negativity. Yes, you are right when you say that certain essential oils can be unsafe (but only when they come from other companies that are not as conscientious about their production process or ones that add synthetic chemicals to their oils (read blog 2). Don’t get me wrong, anything – even Young Living essential oils – if not used as directed – could present a problem for someone. Essential oils are extremely concentrated…that’s why one drop goes a long, long, way.  As a I said before: Lucky for us, directions and usage guidelines are provided with Young Living essential oils/products. But the bottom line is…Young Living essential oils are COMPLETELY safe, and YES, they most definitely can provide healing effects for our bodies on all levels (physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual)!

So…to wrap this blog up, I’ve come to learn that naysayers…uh, I mean people who have not been educated about the chemical constituents of pure essential oils and how they are very similar to the chemical constituents of our bodies, hence their ability to raise our body systems’ frequency levels – promoting homeostasis, so our bodies can return to a state in which they can heal themselves...ha ha…if that’s not a run-on sentence, I don’t know what is… might just think essential oils are full of “chemicals” or are unsafe, or even dangerous. But WE know better – DON’T WE NOW! 😉
